A seven-year-old girl took it upon herself to run a Macmillan coffee morning after watching Gogglebox.

Lacey Mulligan and her mum Laura Adams, 30, of Ramillies Road, Sidcup, were fixated on the Channel 4 show’s star Scarlett Moffatt when she was crying for a young boy who had died from cancer.

The boy’s story captivated young Lacey who ‘wanted to give his family £100.’

Miss Adams told her daughter that they could bake cakes to raise money instead – which they did in Bexley Village on Saturday (November 21) – and raked in over £500.

The mum-of-two said: “We were watching Gogglebox a couple of weeks ago and it was an episode about cancer.

“One of the people on the show Scarlett, was crying at a child who had died, and Lacey asked me ‘why is she getting so upset?’

News Shopper:

“She wanted to help so I suggested doing a coffee morning and she loved that idea – she made the cupcakes and a huge chocolate cake.

“It was a very successful day where we raised £585 which was fantastic.

“Bexley Village were so helpful and did an amazing job.”

The stall was set up in Cherry Blossom, a flower shop in Bexley Village, where customers donated an amount of their choice to purchase one of the youngster’s cakes.

Miss Adams praised Lacey for acting on her own initiative to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

She added: “I am just over the moon for her – she’s so kind hearted and is an inspiration to me.

“I don’t think Lacey knows how well she’s done.

“When it came up in the show about cancer, she just wanted to make a difference.

“I’m extremely proud of her.”

Lacey made sure that she got the last word in.

She said: “I feel very good that I’ve helped people.

“Gogglebox is my favourite show and I love Scarlett.”
