A Bromley man is one of five criminals jailed for their part in selling guns and ammunition to south London gangs.

John Remi, of Derwent Road, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison after being found guilty of encouraging or assisting in the selling or transfer of firearms.

Met Police officers investigating the five men recovered five hand guns, 300 rounds of ammunition, 2,000 bullet casings and equipment used in the manufacturing of firearms and ammunition.

In total they were sentenced to almost 19 years following the trial at Croydon Crown Court.

James Walsh, 40, of Wilkinson Gardens, Croydon, received a nine year sentence after being found guilty of conspiracy to sell or transfer firearms.

He also previously pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited weapon - a Magnum revolver which was discovered at his house.

Henry McGuire, also known as Harry, 62, of Branksome Road, Lambeth, was found guilty of conspiracy to sell or transfer firearms and was sentenced to four years' imprisonment.

Maxwell Jarrett, 29, of Highfield Hill, Croydon, was found guilty of conspiracy to sell or transfer firearms and was sentenced to two and a half years' imprisonment.

Jason Flemming, 41, of Martell Road, Lambeth, was found guilty of encouraging or assisting in the selling or transfer firearms and was sentenced to two years' imprisonment.

When police searched McGuire's home in Brixton they found an armoury in the first floor bedroom, containing more tjan 2,000 homemade bullet casings and bullet heads, along with a bullet press with associated bullet dyes, moulds and re-loading equipment. 

Detective Inspector Paul Dorey from Trident, who oversaw the investigation said: "We are pleased with the sentencing of these five dangerous criminals, who were intent on endangering people's lives through the supply of firearms to south London gangs."
