POLICE and council officials today teamed up to clear fly-tipped rubbish away from an alleyway.
Rushey Green Safer Neighbourhood Team and Lewisham Council workers armed themselves with brooms, overalls and gloves to tackle the alleyway in Blythe Hill Lane, Catford.
The blitz is being held following complaints from residents in the area about the rubbish and graffiti which have been building up over the years.
The team also used paint donated by local businesses to cover the graffiti.
Abandoned cars were removed from the area after the London Fire Brigade advised they posed a fire risk, and street lamps were checked to make sure they provide enough lighting for residents to feel safe in the area at night.
