"I have got this peacock on my house and I don't know what to do," said a man from Woolwich after the bird appeared in his garden.

Michael Williams, 46, is trying to locate the bird's owners after it flew onto his roof today.

Speaking from his home in Claydown Mews, Mr Williams said the "friendly" peacock is currently in his garden after coming down from the roof.

He told News Shopper: "I believe it's probably from Charlton Park petting zoo.

"It was in my neighbour's garden at first...then it jumped in to the other neighbour's garden, then it got onto the roof."

Mr Williams said the colourful peacock is currently "plodding up and down" the garden, but he hopes to get the bird back to safety as soon as possible.

He added: "I was shocked, you don't expect to see a peacock in your garden.

"I have had all sorts in my garden but never a peacock.

"It's very friendly, I have just given it a couple handful of oats."
