Dean Day, CEO of Greenlight Games

Dean Day, 25, only graduated from Greenwich University in the summer, but already has his own gaming company which he started in February 2014.

With the help of friends, Greenlight Games has gone from strength to strength and released their new game Deul on September 25.

The CEO said: “The game is unique – it’s quirky and addictive.

“I only actually realised that I wanted to go into gaming two years ago when I quit my Computer Science course at uni.

“So this Games Design and Development course became available and the thought of getting paid to make and play games is amazing.

“I took a gamble on my future and it’s worked out well and I’ve never looked back.”

The fast-paced game is set to test a player’s precision, reaction time and become increasingly addictive as its difficulty rises.

Mr Day, whose company’s offices are based near the o2 in the Greenwich Peninsula, revealed that it has been a tough ride to get to where they are now.

He added: “There are so many people reaching out to us compared to when we started off and had companies and businesses ignoring our emails.

“Now, we want to give students and graduates the best possible chance of making it in the industry.

“The idea to have our offices in the Peninsula was to create a gaming studio that would help people get invaluable experience to take the next step into gaining a full-time job.

“At the moment, we have ten part-time people who work for us.”

Greenlight Games has recently struck gold on a game called Gombies which was accepted by Microsoft and will be available for download on Xbox next year.

So what inspired Mr Day to pursue a career in gaming?

He said: “Childhood memories come back to me playing James Bond Goldeneye on my Nintendo 64 - I would be on it all day.

“I always thought, ‘imagine if I created one?

“Seeing Deul grow and looking at the good reviews online makes me feel really great.”

Deul is available for download on the Android devices and will soon be released on the Apple App Store.
