A new secondary school in Beckenham is opening applications for next September.

The Beckenham Academy (TBA), was officially launched at its open evening last Tuesday (October 6).

Education for the 21st Century (E21C) is opening the school next September to Year Sevens in a bid to help meet the extra demand for school places in the area.

While a permanent site for the school is under construction, students will be based at the nearby Ravensbourne School, along Hayes Lane.

MORE TOP STORIES The school will provide free transport links, for both before and after school, from key points in the catchment area.

Head of The Beckenham Academy, Emily Codling, says: ā€œIā€™m very excited about being able to offer this new choice for Year 7 students in the Beckenham area."

An open week is being held at the Ravensbourne School from next week (October 19 ā€“ 22) from 9-10am.

There are 180 places available at the new premises, and the deadline for applications is October 31.
