The self-confessed Queen of Ingress and her multi-millionaire geological engineer husband have opened the impressive doors of their 47-room home to TV crews.

Canadian national Sam Malin, 52, and Irene Malin, 35, live in Greenhithe's Ingress Manor.

They are also one of Britain's flashiest families, according to a new Channel 5 show.

Their £1.6million home now neighbours Ingress Park housing estate, after the abbey's grounds were sold off by previous owners.

TODAY'S TOP STORIES:

Although Mr and Mrs Malin have reportedly doubled the cost of the house through renovation work, they do not want to appear to be shut off "in an ivory tower".

To prove it, the couple threw a lavish, no expense spared, garden party and invited members of the community.

On the show, Mr Malin splashed the cash and treated his wife to a lavish dinner at his favourite restaurant - just a quick 35 minute private jet ride away in Paris.

Mr Malin joked: "The key element of keeping the flame alive with five children is the nannies."

Meanwhile, Mrs Malin spent £439 on an eighth birthday outfit for daughter Lulu-Marie - after a shopping session in a designer kids store stocking Dior shoes.

She asked: "Who wouldn't die for something like this?"

Viewers were reminded that the cost of her seven-year-old daughter's dress and pumps is more than the average family spends on groceries in a month.

The couple met when Mr Malin, who makes his money in the oil industry, was working in Cameroon, where Mrs Malin grew up with eight siblings.

She described her great loves as fashion, trips, jewellery and cars.

Her husband admitted: "I love spoiling Irene - I love to see her reaction."

Mrs Malin is not new to TV - last year she appeared on X Factor with her sister Elsa Major, and was branded Simon Cowell's "idea of hell".

The second episode of Britain's Flashiest Families is on Wednesday (October 14) at 10pm.
