Valon Behrami has joined Sebastian Prodl and Craig Cathcart in potentially looking forward to competing in next summer's European Championship finals after the penultimate round of qualifiers continued yesterday.

After Cathcart had played the full 90 minutes in Northern Ireland’s 3-1 victory over Greece on Thursday to qualify for France, Hornets central defensive partner Prodl also featured for the whole match as Austria came from behind twice to win 3-2 in Montenegro.

Having secured their route to the finals last month in Group G, the Austrians were trailing at half time to Mirko Vucinic’s 32nd-minute opener for the hosts but pulled level ten minutes into the second half through Marc Janko.

Fatos Beqiraj put the hosts in front for a second time after 68 minutes but Austria again levelled with nine minutes of normal time remaining through Marko Arnautovic.

Montenegro were reduced to ten men with three minutes to go when Vucinic was sent off for a second yellow card and the Austrians made their numerical advantage count in the second minute of injury time when Marcel Sabitzer netted the winner.

The victory leaves the Group G winners eight points clear of second-placed Russia and they will be heavy favourites to complete an unbeaten qualification campaign when they take on Liechtenstein on Monday.

Prodl’s Hornets teammate Behrami was ruled out of the last round of qualification fixtures with a calf injury but Switzerland made sure of the runners-up spot behind England in Group E with an emphatic 7-0 victory over San Marino.

The Swiss only led 1-0 at the break through Michael Lang but hit six in the second half as three different players - Gokhan Inler, Johan Djourou and Breel Embolo – all scored from the penalty spot.

The other goals were netted by Admir Mehmedi, Patjam Kasami and Eren Derdiyok.

The Swiss complete their qualifiers with a trip to Estonia on Monday.

Elsewhere, Obbi Oulare played the first 64 minutes as Belgium Under-21s made it three Euorpean Championship qualifying wins out of three in Group One with a 2-0 victory over Malta.
