Three of the 44 GP practices rated as "Good" by theCare Quality Commission (CQC) are in south east London.

Two practices in Bexley and another in Lewisham have been rated and labelled good by the CQC after inspections by specialist teams compiled 54 reports on the quality of care.

The Bexley Group Practice and the Plas Meddyg Surgery in Bexley have both been starred as “Good” alongside Deptford Surgery in Lewisham.

TOP STORIES: Under CQC’s new programme of inspections, all of England’s GP practices are being given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.

71 GP practices have been rated as “Outstanding” so far including the Amersham Vale Practice in New Cross.

Professor Steve Field, Chief Inspector of General Practice, said: “After more than 2,000 inspections we now have the evidence that the vast majority of England's GP practices are providing a service which is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.

"But, unfortunately, there are still areas of practice that are inadequate and unacceptable.

“Patients have a right to expect high quality care from every GP practice.”

The CQC is an independent regulator of all health and adult social care in England and regulates care provided by the NHS, local authorities, private and volunteer groups.
