Members of the Sikh community in Gravesend are offering free food to people of all faiths this week (October 5).
The Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara is feeding the hungry for international Langar week - and offering a vegetarian buffet to the public.
The Sikh concept of Langar, meaning free kitchen, is free food for all regardless of faith, gender, age or financial status.
Organiser Gurjit Kaur Bains told News Shopper: "We are taking part in order to open the doors to our communities as well as our way of life.
“What better way in which to do this than by the sharing of food?
"The kitchen is run by volunteers from the community and we would like to encourage everybody to come, try the food and learn more about the teachings of Sikhi."
Jagraj Singh of the Sikh Press Association added: "Langar was set up to ensure no one should be hungry.
"Langar Week is a time to open doors to other communities and raise awareness of our mission to fight world hunger, one meal at a time."
National Langar Week runs until Sunday. Volunteers serve free food at the temple all year round.
Roughly six million free meals are provided in Gurdwaras every day.
