You may not have heard of Bromley-born Josh Beech yet, but that may be about to change. And chances are you know his face, anyway.

The 29-year-old Millwall fan is just about to launch full-tilt at the UK music scene – and judging on his success so far you wouldn’t bet against him making it big.

Josh is already an in-demand model, having fronted campaigns for Burberry, Mango and Maybelline.

He has just become the face of Gap around the world. And he is married to a Hollywood star, Beverly Hills 90210’s Shenae Grimes.

Speaking to Vibe on the phone from Canada, Josh said: “I feel a bit blessed because the modelling stuff came about as a complete fluke and a complete accident.

“It wasn’t something I ever really wanted to do but the opportunity was there and my family were like ‘this is a great way to fund your music’.

“I’m so grateful that has fuelled my music for the last eight or nine years but music is where my heart is. I’ve always made it known to people in the fashion industry, modelling is the second thing even though it has been my main income.

“I would give everything up just to do music full time and now I feel really lucky to be at the place where I have great balance between the two. The music makes me money now, which is more than I could ever ask for.”

Josh’s music has already proved a success in Europe and South America but now his energy is focussed on breaking the UK market with his EP Fight Strong, which is released on October 16.

He added: “I have never really tried that hard in England and I didn’t know why until now. I think I didn’t want to push what I do in England until I knew I was 100 per cent happy in my sound.

“I think you really have one chance in England, especially in the music industry. It’s very tough.”

Though he was born and brought up in Bromley, he hasn’t spent much time here in recent years. He has had a couple of stints living in New York – where he first started playing music solo after years in bands – and then moved to LA after meeting his wife.

He said: “I do miss Bromley. I can go anywhere in the world but I will always be a Bromley boy.

“My family are still there so that’s a big pull. I come back pretty regularly. My sister had a baby a few months ago so I go back to see her quite a lot.”

Of course, following his beloved Millwall from LA hasn’t been too easy. The Premier League may be big across the Atlantic; League One not so much.

Josh said: “It’s hard, especially last season where they got relegated.

“I have Lions Player, which is an online app where I can watch the replays on. There are a couple of televised games I can pick up a season.

“I’m really grateful for the internet. Otherwise I wouldn’t have a clue what’s going on.”

Josh is such a keen fan he has even taken glamourous wife Shenae along to The Den.

He said: “She’s Canadian and football is not the first sport, it’s not even the second or third sport.

“She had never been to a game and I was determined on one of her first trips to London to take her to a game and I took her.

“The only thing she knew about Millwall was what she had seen in movies, which paint them very badly. She was a little bit nervous but she had the time of her life.

“She still talks about it to this day. She loved the energy, she loved the pie that she got. She loved the fact she could watch a sport while eating a pie. And she has her own Millwall shirt now.”
