The dangers of speeding were reinforced as Kent Police pulled over a dozen drivers on roads in Gravesend and Meopham on Saturday (Aug 22).

After concerns were raised about road safety in Wrotham Road, Pelham Road and Singlewell Road, Kent Police did speed checks with mobile cameras in these areas.

As a result, a 24-year-old man from Gravesend was arrested on suspicion of breaching court bail conditions.

Meanwhile, seven drivers were stopped by police officers, and given warnings and advice.

One motorist was reported for summons, for speeding and seatbelt offences - and a further three drivers were given tickets for traffic offences.

Sergeant David Crompton said: "Speed checks were carried out to ensure motorists were driving safely.
