As part of the Co-op Pharmacy changeover launching mid-September, the Wells pharmacy in Swanley, is asking residents to write in with nominations for local unsung heroes from the area.

Well, located in the Swanley Centre, is searching for people who have done something exceptional on the local scene. Those put forward for the nomination might have saved someone’s life, or perhaps even made a contribution to charity or voluntary work; so long as it’s had a positive impact in the local area Well are keen to hear from residents.

Those selected will be invited as VIP guests of honour to the official opening of the Swanley store.

The change comes following Wells take-over of Co-op’ pharmacy at the Swanley Centre last October. Well pharmacies, operated by the Bestway Group, launched a £620million acquisition from The Co-operative Group’s 780 UK pharmacies. The regional manager for Well in Swanley, Nikesh Patel, said: "We are extremely excited to unveil the new look pharmacy.

"We recognise that many of our customers are tireless in their efforts to support the community, which is why we want to celebrate their work and invite an unsung hero to our grand opening."

Following the takeover, Well is now the UK’s largest independent pharmacy chain and the investment in Swanley is part of a five-year, £200million programme. As a provider of primary healthcare, Well pharmacies are supposed to save customers trips to their GP, local hospital A&E as well as provide advice for healthy lifestyle changes.

Locals can suggest a nomination by either emailing wellheroes@havasww.com or post, to Well Heroes, c/o Havas PR, 52 Princess Street, Manchester M1 6JX.

The closing date for nominations is September 10 and the grand opening will launch the following week.
