‘The Big Birdhouse Tour’ has fused art with life and nature via a 16-month national exhibition.

15 British artists and celebrities have artfully designed a sizeable birdhouse which will be exhibited and auctioned in centres in a bid to raise money for the UK’s largest nature conservation charity - the RSPB.

Wildlife in decline In 2013, the State of Nature report highlighted that 60 per cent of UK wildlife studied has declined over recent decades. Working with intu, the RSPB will reach over 30 million people to raise awareness of the importance of Giving Nature a Home.

The fun, interactive and informative tour will highlight the vulnerability of some of Britain’s treasured birds and nature, encouraging individuals, families and communities to take action and protect the future of Britain’s wildlife.

Giving Nature a Home

The well-known British personalities include TV presenter Alex Jones, athletes Iwan Thomas, Richard Whitehead and Becky Adlington, DJ Jo Whiley and comic actor Vic Reeves, who have each designed their own larger than life birdhouses to raise money for and awareness of the RSPB.

Bryan Bland, Head of Corporate Partnerships at the RSPB, said: “Our partnership is a superb example of reaching out to people where they are and showcasing the relevance and importance of Giving Nature a Home. intu centres offer fantastic spaces to enable us to do something really fun and creative, and we hope to connect with people up and down the country to inspire and encourage them to connect with nature.”

Craig Higgins, marketing manager at intu Bromley said: “We were absolutely overwhelmed by the positive response to the arrival of our first national art tour, Elephant Parade, at intu Bromley last year.

"The Big Birdhouse Tour will absolutely follow in those elephant sized footsteps, providing many more happy memories for our customers.”

The Big Birdhouse Tour is visiting 15 intu shopping centres during its 16 month tour and will be nesting at intu Bromley until 6th September. For more information, visit http://intu.co.uk/birdhouse.
