TRAIN services are returning to normal after the chaos caused by the Deptford fire.
Many trains were cancelled or diverted this morning after fire broke out on an industrial site near the line into New Cross.
Lines re-opened at 3pm, though commuters are warned to still expect some delays.
News Shopper journalist Oliver Fennell, who was caught up in the delays this morning, said: "I managed to get a train from Mottingham to Hither Green at the second attempt, as all carriages were crammed full.
"But I couldn't make my connection to Petts Wood as there were no connecting trains coming from London, either.
"I don't blame anybody for the unforeseen circumstances, but what was frustrating was the lack of information or updates about when the next trains might be coming.
"The screens simply said 'delayed', meaning I couldn't give my office any estimated time of arrival, or even know if it was worth waiting at the station or not.
"Eventually I got a bus which ironically went via Mottingham, where I started. I got to work about an hour and a half late."
