A new school opening in Beckenham is accepting applications for next September.

Education for the 21st Century (E21C) has announced it’s opening a free school called The Beckenham Academy in 2016.

The trust successfully bid in October last year to open the school, which is hoped to meet demand in the borough.

The school will initially be located at the Ravensbourne School, in Hayes Lane, while a permanent site is found.

It will have access to all the facilities at the school, including science labs and ICT suites.

MORE TOP STORIES The secondary school, which will teach 11-18 year olds, will have 180 places for Year Seven pupils staring next September.

An open day is being held at Ravensbourne School on October 6, and an open week will run from October 19-22.

Principal of the Beckenham Academy, Emily Codling, said: “The teaching staff, admissions policy and uniform have all been established and whilst we wait for confirmation our permanent location, we’re keen to begin using the fantastic offering we have created at [The Ravensbourne School] TRS and sharing this with the local students joining the school.”
