Gravesend's RNLI lifeboat was called out yesterday (August 1) evening to reports of a person stuck in the mud at the entrance to the King George V dock.

The lifeboat left its station at around 7.35pm with three crew members onboard.

By the time they arrived the person had managed to escape the mud and was in the care of paramedics.

Earlier in the day the lifeboat was called to assist a small boat with two people onboard drifting in the strong flood tide.

"Once the small boat was put alongside their vessel and the occupants were safely on board the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station."
