Plans to regenerate Eltham town centre are going on display to the public.

Proposals to revamp the High Street area, including the Well Hall Road junction, Passey Place, and the Footscray Road Junction are now available online.

The works are part of a £5 million investment from Greenwich Council with funds secured from the Transport for London (TfL).

The council is asking residents for feedback on proposals, and follows a six week consultation which ran earlier this year.

The changes take into account existing amenities and the proposed site of the six screen cinema, which should take the place of Poundland on the High Street.

Wider pavements are planned for the High Street alongside new cycle lanes, better street lighting and resurfacing the entire road.

Extra bus stops and the relocation of existing ones could go ahead if given TfL approval.

Currently there are 59 free parking spaces along the High Street, and these could be reduced to 21.

Other parking changes are also planned if the scheme gets approval, including an additional 19 loading bays.

MORE TOP STORIES Alongside more traditional changes to footpaths, crossings, lightings and pavements, some more unusual changes include a plinth planned for Well Hall Road junction.

A large ‘Eltham’ sign made of timber could be placed at the Footscray Road Junction, with insect hotels built into the back.

Pop-up bollards with electricity and water points could help markets and events in Passey Place, and a digital sign fixed to a wall opposite the Delicio Cafe could provide information on upcoming events, history and information.

A ‘street garden’ theme will see more trees and planted areas with more areas to sit outside.

The council is also consulting on a name for an un-named path next to Lidl, or if anyone knows its proper name to come forward.

Councillor Danny Thorpe, cabinet member for regeneration and transport, said: "We really want to people of Eltham to feed in their comments and help us to shape these really important plans that will ultimately deliver wholesale changes and improvements.”
