A man has been hospitalised after a ‘major’ crash along Penge High Street.
The man, in his 60s, is thought to have been hit by a van just before 10am this morning (July 29).
The crash happened at the High Street's junction with Green Lane.
He was treated for back and head injuries and was rushed to Kings College Hospital, where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
MORE TOP STORIES Emergency services were called to the scene, including London’s Air Ambulance, which arrived within five minutes after landing in a nearby carpark.
Doctors from the Air Ambulance travelled with the man to hospital.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called as it was initially thought someone was trapped.
Eyewitnesses described the accident as ‘major’ on social media.
Bus routes 194, 227 and 358 are thought to be experiencing delays, although Transport for London (TfL) tweeted the road had now re-opened.
