The gas leak erupted in a block of flats in Charlton Lane yesterday (July 28) just before 7pm.
MORE TOP STORIES The gas leak broke out in the four storey building, and was identified as coming from a domestic appliance inside one of the flats.
20 people, including an elderly couple who needed assistance, were evacuated from the block.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) isolated the leak and ensured the building was safe before letting residents back in around 8.30pm.
The London Ambulance Service (LAS), and the hazardous area response team (HART), also attended.
The LAS treated a woman who was taken to Queen Elizabeth II hospital in Woolwich.
Charlton Lane was closed while the area was made safe, but re-opened later that evening.
