As revellers were enjoying the sunshine, fire fighters battled two separate blazes on Dartford Heath on Saturday (July 25).
Kent Fire and Rescue were first called out to ‘two seats of fire’ on the heath at 5.45pm – which they fought with flex packs and beaters.
They reminded people present of fire safety in the outdoors, as fires destroy hundreds of acres of countryside and wildlife habitats every year.
The fire was out by 6.05pm – however, fire fighters returned at 7.30pm to a second fire, which destroyed a 15m x 20m area of land.
One engine attended and crews spend 40 minutes extinguishing the fire with beaters.
