Mottingham residents are spearheading a new community facility offering events such as a pop-up cinema.
The Mottingham Residents for Change (MR4C), chaired by Lorraine Gibson, have been awarded a license by Affinity Sutton to run Geffery’s Hall in Nunnington Close.
The hall recently underwent a refurbishment - including a new kitchen - which has allowed the group to launch a series of activities and events.
MORE TOP STORIES Officially opening on Thursday (July 9), the venue will now be home to a pop-up cinema, boxing and dance sessions as well as other events.
The venue's launch was attended by Mottingham councillor Charles Rideout.
Director of MR4C, Clive Richardson, said: "We need a cinema here; we don’t want to have to go to Eltham or Sidcup for sports or leisure.
"I feel there’s a need to provide local people with activities locally, and without costing a lot of money. It’s better to have amenities here in the community within walking distance, and that’s what we’re providing."
The new kitchen was provided by the Breyer Group as part of the Community Connection programme.
