Two people were arrested after a fist fight brawl involving up to 60 people broke out outside a pub on Shooters Hill last night.

Police were called at around 10.40pm to reports of a fight outside a pub on Shooters Hill at the junction with Red Lion Lane.

Eyewitness Maddie Mansfield posted pictures on Twitter showing more than 30 police officers trying to control the fight.

Others tweeted their shock after seeing a "mountain of police" outside their homes and a helicopter overhead.

Ms Mansfield, who lives on Shooters Hill, told News Shopper more than 100 police officers turned up after the brawl began outside The Red Lion pub.

The 19-year-old said: “It sounded like cars were being tipped over.

“It was very, very noisy.

“There was a huge fist fight involving loads of people, definitely 60-plus at one point.”

One person was arrested on suspicion of affray and another arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

News Shopper understands a large group of travellers involved in the brawl had been swigging from beer cans in the street.

Twitter user, Arundel, posted: "Shooters Hill is madness."

Another, Ben Churchinho said: "What the hell is going on at Shooters Hill? Drove past, never seen so many police cars."

Jenny Cassells added: "Why the big noisy helicopters going over Shooters Hill last couple of nights? Feel like I'm in an episode of #MASH #welling #falconwood."

Anena Bennett tweeted: "Hill closed both ways and a mountain of police."

Some Tweeters said a group of people had been raving in the road not long before the fight broke out but police denied the violence escalated from a street party.
