The Gravesend lifeboat rescued two people who were stuck in the mud yesterday (June 30).
The RNLI was called out at 2.50pm to a man and a woman who were cut off and stranded in the mud at Holehaven creek next to Canvey Island.
An RNLI spokesman said the crew were concerned they would not be able to rescue the pair, because of falling tide.
He added: “Making their way with extreme caution up the creek with the water at less than a metre, they were able to travel approximately two miles in, when with help from a shore side coastguard team the casualties were spotted.
“In water less than half a metre, the RNLI volunteer crew were able to recover the casualties to the lifeboat.

“They then made their way to Holehaven causeway to be met by a coastguard shore team.”
After the rescue, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.
