Fire fighters battled a field blaze in Stone yesterday (June 29), which destroyed two hectares of grass.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Cotton Lane at 5.15pm, to reports of grass and undergrowth that was alight.

A spokesman said: "Crews used beaters, flexpacks and hosereels to tackle the fire.

"The main fire was extinguished just before 6pm but crews remained at the scene damping down and left the scene around 6.30pm.

"The blaze damaged approximately two hectares of grass and undergrowth."
