A 29-year-old arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot as he reversed his car from his driveway in Orpington has been released without charge.

The man was arrested at an address in Biggin Hill following the shooting at Kedleston Drive on December 5, last year.

Emergency services were called at 7.08pm after the man was shot at twice as he reversed his car from his driveway with his two sons inside.

Neighbour Liam Brophy, 63, drove the victim, who is in his 30s, to the Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough before an ambulance crew arrived.

He was treated for minor injuries and discharged from hospital.

Speaking shortly after the shooting, Mr Brophy told News Shopper the gunshots left blood pouring from the victim and sounded like a “gas explosion”.

A Met Police spokesman said no additional arrests had been made but enquiries continue.
