The area's two new MPs have thrown their weight behind Sadiq Khan in his bid to be Labour's candidate for Mayor of London.
Lewisham Deptford MP Vicky Foxcroft alongside Greenwich and Woolwich's Matthew Pennycook are both backing the party's Shadow Minister for London.
London Labour members and supporters will vote to decide on the party’s mayoral candidate, with the result set to be announced on the weekend of September 12 - the same date the party chooses its new leader and deputy.
Mr Pennycook said: "Sadiq Khan is the candidate with the background, determination, ideas and guts to achieve for everyone in this great city.
"He knows what is needed to win – in his own marginal constituency of Tooting, and across the city."
And Ms Foxcroft said: "Our city faces a housing crisis, it needs more and better jobs, and public transport is overcrowded and expensive. Sadiq recognises this needs to change, and has the ideas to deliver this change for London."
