A third man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of an elderly man at his home in Sidcup.

Emergency services were called to the home of 82-year-old Arthur Walters-Girout in Pembury Crescent shortly after 4pm on Friday.

The Met Police and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and found Mr Walters-Girout who was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination has given the cause of death as a head injury.

Two men, aged 23 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday and remain in custody at a south London police station.

A 35-year-old man was arrested today and is being questioned at a south London police station.

Detective Chief Inspector Diane Tudway, who is leading the murder investigation, said: “Mr Walters-Girout, a vulnerable 82-year-old man, was attacked in his home.

"We continue to investigate the motive behind this murder and I would appeal to anyone that knew Mr Walters-Girout, or those that lived in the neighbourhood, to contact police if they remember any suspicious people or cars in the area of Pembury Crescent in the days preceding his death.

"My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time."
