Two men have been arrested after a 54-year-old man was found dead in Thamesmead.

Police were called to Camelot Close following reports of a disturbance at 1.30am this morning (June 19).

On arrival they found a collapsed man who was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers from Greenwich CID cordoned off the road and later arrested two men in connection with their investigation.

Police have said the man's death is being treated as unexplained Camelot Close resident Tsveta Kostova, 31, was woken by police knocking on her door around 2am.

She said: "The police officer said there was a guy who had heart problems and had a heart failure.

"They didn't say much to me, they asked us if we knew what was going on and if we heard a lady screaming.

"For a heart attack there were a lot of police cars."

Ms Kostova has lived on Camelot Close since 2007 and regularly saw the victim on the street.

She said: "I saw the guy once or twice a week getting in his car.

"I never saw the guy with anyone, he was always coming and going by himself so I think he was single and didn't have many friends.

She also said Camelot Close was a very quiet area and residents were shocked with what had happened.

She added: "Something like this has never happened before.

"There was a guy who was quite violent to his girlfriend but he was evicted three years ago.

"A lot of us have lived here since 2008, you never hear any loud noise and I've never had any problems with any of the neighbours."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
