Orpington primary school pupils have been training hard for a triathlon in memory of a Great British athlete next month.

Warren Road Primary School will be holding a short triathlon on July 4 involving a 40m swim, three loops of the playground on a bike and one loop on foot.

The triathlon has been organised by mum-of-three Diana Bryant, whose husband Gary represented Great Britain at world championship level for his age group four times.

The 40-year-old said: “We wanted to do something to remember him by and something that he would really appreciate.

“I hope to allow all children to enjoy a triathlon and give something back to the school as a lot of children don’t fully understand what’s involved.”

Mr Bryant, who also competed in national duathlon and bike competitions and the London Marathon, died after battling with the rare form of cancer Sarcoma, last year.
