Police were called to break up a fight at a Swanley car boot sale, early on Sunday morning.

The fight, at a SMB events car boot sale at Pedham Place, occured just fifty minutes after the event opened to the public at 7am.

A paramedic was called to reports of an assault, and treated a man for injuries around his eye.

Event organiser Susan Barnard rung the police and ambulance service, after hearing that two customers were fighting over an item.

Her husband and co-organiser Tom Barnard said: "It's a pretty rare thing but we got thousands of visitors over the period of the year.

"I have got a feeling it was a family dispute, but that's all hearsay.

"It's very rare to have an assault at a boot fair.

"I just hope the chap's alright.

"Thankfully it's rare. We try and contain and respond to it as soon as possible."

Mr Barnard added that the man suspected of the assault voluntarily waited to speak to police.
