DRIVERS breaking a variety of laws were caught out when police and the DVLA staged a joint traffic operation in Crayford.
Officers from Crayford's Safer Neighbourhoods team, South East Area Traffic and the DVLA used Automatic Number Plate Recognition equipment to pinpoint problem drivers.
During a four-hour operation at the end of March, 35 drivers were caught for criminal or driving offences.
One tried to escape after failing to stop for the police, but was caught and arrested.
Five drivers were arrested for having no documents and providing false details; wanted on a warrant for non-payment of fines; going equipped to steal; theft and fraudulent use of a tax disc.
And 31 drivers were reported for motoring offences, or given advice, while four were reported for driving with no insurance, which is now punishable with a £200 fine and six penalty points.
