Greenhithe residents are refusing to be washed aside by developers planning to block their picturesque view of the Thames.

Residents of Ingress Park have expressed concerns that a final stage of building on the estate, developed by Crest Nicholson, will conceal the view which convinced them to buy their homes in the first place.

Plans to build three and four storey homes and a new 16-storey apartment building is planned between existing homes and the river where revealed during a viewing of development models.

Resident, Gary Carmen, 33, said: "It is felt by local residents that we were misinformed about the river views when they were going to be of a temporary nature."

The group have now created a petition in a bid to highlight concerns about limited parking spaces, an in increase in traffic and the loss of the existing riverside walk.

Mr Carmen added: "We are not objecting to the future developments for the final phase.

"We simply want our concerns and views to be considered, and not to ruin the beautiful Ingress Park."

Revised plans of the site, featuring 22 houses, 129 apartments, 7,535 sq ft business space and community areas, are due to be submitted to the planning inspectorate later this month.

Crest Nicholson have also offered to provide 'vistas between the groups of houses and apartments, to provide views from the main part of the site out onto the River Thames.'

Peter Diffley of Crest Nicholson said: "These new plans are a dramatic reduction not only in the number of residential units proposed but also in the overall bulk and height of the buildings, thereby improving views for the vast majority of existing properties."
