Staff at a New Eltham post office foiled a suspected armed robbery this afternoon (June 3).
Police were called to the Footscray Road premises just before 2pm following reports of an armed robbery.
A staff member told News Shopper that a single man walked into the shop and pointed towards staff members using something hidden inside his jacket.
However, staff members managed to close the security door to stop him getting into the post office's secure area and the alarm was raised.
Police were on the scene in two minutes and are still there carrying our their investigations.
The staff member said no one was harmed and nothing was taken during the incident.
