A songwriter from Bromley has made it through the final of a national singing competition.

Bromley High School student Abi Hudson, 16, beat off thousands of other entrants to make it through to the finale of TeenStar.

The teenager, from near Hayes Lane, successfully won over judges in three different rounds to earn her place at the grand finale in Birmingham on July 25.

Performing playing the guitar in her first audition, she also impressed judges with one of her own songs.

“It’s really exciting as it’s the final with everyone from all over England.

“I didn’t think I’d make it.”

Entering in one of the three categories, late teens aged 16-19, she could win £5,000 towards developing her music career.

Her mother, graphic designer Kate Hudson, said: “She’s worked so hard she sings every single day.

“I’m looking forward to seeing her on stage.”

Abi confirmed she is keeping her song choice for the finale a surprise.
