Two women who share the same birthday celebrated their 90th with a street party in Chislehurst.

Helen Harper and Irene Peck, who live on Ingleby Way, both turned 90 on Thursday (May 28).

Planned by neighbour Shirley Shead, 68, the ladies were joined on Sunday (May 31) by family, friends and neighbours for a street party including local rock band 'Arry & The 'Atstands.

Ms Peck said: "We have lovely neighbours and they said as we were both 90 on the same day, they would throw a street party.

"It was very good seeing all of our friends, some in their 80's and 90's, it was a lovely day."

MORE TOP STORIES Organiser, Ms Shead, said: "It was a slow start because of the weather but apart from that it was absolutely fabulous.

"We have had street parties in the past for the Queen's Jubilee but it seemed like a good reason to get together."

The weather did not put off pensioner Ms Harper, who said: "It was most enjoyable, most of the residents turned up and had a very nice time, as well as all the children, we are a community.

"It was a bit cold, but it was dry, that's English weather.

"They made it a very memorable and enjoyable 90th birthday."

The street also celebrated a 40th and 12th birthday at the same time.
