Police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old boy was seriously assaulted in Thamesmead on Saturday night (May 30).

Officers were called to Manordene Road, Thamesmead at around 10.45pm.

London Ambulance Service also attended the scene and the boy was taken to a south London hospital with head injuries.

It is thought he was struck across the head with a weapon or object.

He is currently in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes of Bexley CID said: "We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward who may have witnessed the incident.

"When police were called, the victim was surround by a group of people.

"Officers would like to speak to anyone who was in the area."

There have been no arrests.
