A severe weather warning is to remain in place throughout today (June 2) after strong winds battered south east London and north Kent overnight.
The Met Office said an unseasonably windy spell would be likely across many parts of the UK from around 2pm on Monday.
Strong to gale force winds with gusts of up to 55mph will continue well into this afternoon.
London Overground services are part suspended between New Cross Gate, Crystal Palace and West Croydon due to a fallen tree, this morning.
A spokesman said: “Given the unseasonable nature of the winds, the public should be aware of the potential for localised disruption to transport and outdoor activities, while damage to some trees remains possible."
A mainly cloudy and windy day with spells of rain and drizzle is expected across south east London and north Kent.
This afternoon should become drier with brighter spells likely in the west but remaining windy.
Maximum temperature will be 19 °C.
Gusty winds are expected this evening but will ease by the morning and become lighter into Wednesday, which is expected to be cloudy with sunny spells.
