A 14-year-old boy has bailed after allegedly stealing a moped and joyriding round Lewisham.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle at Bellingham Green on May 22 around midday but the rider made off.
The moped eventually stopped in Firhill Road and the rider made off on foot, believing officers had lost sight of him.
However officers were waiting for him on Ghent Street where he was detained and arrested.
Checks revealed the moped was stolen from an address in Bromley Hill earlier that morning.
The suspect was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.
He was taken into custody at a south London police station and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
