A man was hospitalised after being attacked and cut in the face at a Charlton bus stop.

Greenwich police are appealing for witnesses and information after a man in his 20s was attacked at a bus stop in Charlton Way.

The victim was on his phone waiting for a bus on April 20 when he was attacked. Police believe a knife was used in the assault.

Emergency services were called at 2.30pm and the man as taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses reported there were two men at the scene of the attack, possibly black or light skinned black, aged in their 20s.

They were both wearing dark clothing and one of them is described as wearing a scarf covering his face.

Following the incident, one of the suspects was seen leaving in a parked car at the junction between Vanbrugh Park and Charlton Way driving towards St John's Park.

The second suspect was seen running towards Combe Avenue.

Leading the investigation, the Met Police Trident team's DC Stephanie Foxwell said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who witnesses this assault on April 20.

"We will treat all information in the strictest confidence."
