Hundreds of secret gardens across London are being opened up for an exclusive weekend in June.
Open Garden Squares Weekend, on June 13 and 14, has been running since 1998 and gives people the chance to enjoy more than 200 gardens across 27 London boroughs that are usually hidden, private or little-known.
They range from the traditional and historic to new and experimental and take in everything from private gardens to roof gardens, allotments, urban farms and beyond.
Highlights include the garden at Number 10 Downing Street (entry determined by public ballot), garden barges on the Thames and the former Arsenal football ground at Highbury.
In south east London, they include Red House in Bexley. Dulwich Upper Wood in Crystal Palace and East Dulwich’s Centre for Wildlife Gardening.
There will also be guided walks and cycling tours, family-friendly activities, plant sales, live music and pop-up events.
Tickets cost £10 in advance, £12 on the weekend and National Trust members get 25 per cent off. Under 12s go free. Go to opensquares.org
