All lanes have now re-opened on the M25 clockwise near Orpington after a van hit some ladders in the road.
Cars were held earlier this morning (May 12) anticlockwise on the M25 between J4 at Orpington to J3 and the A20 at Swanley, after a van hit some ladders in the road.
Some fuel also spilled onto the carriageway after the incident.
MORE TOP STORIES It is thought all traffic had to be stopped for 10 minutes following the bizarre accident.
One lane was closed on the M25 just after J4, but has now re-opened.
There was heavy congestion and queues building up in the area, particularly along the A21 and A224 at Orpington, but that is thought to be easing.
