Celebrity baker Paul Hollywood will swap the kitchen for the race track on Sunday when he takes an Aston Martin V8 around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

The Great British Bake Off star, who recently gained a racing licence with MSV Trackdays, is set to race alongside Beechdean Racing boss and former British GT champion Andrew Howard.

Mr Hollywood has lived in Kent for 15 years and has visited the Brands Hatch track several times.

He said: "I came to see Jason Plato race here in Touring Cars recently.

"With my affiliation with John Surtees following the (BBC Two Racing Legends) TV programme, I have a real soft spot for Brands Hatch.

"I want to try the full GP track with all the extra bends."

Three GT Cup Championship races will take place at Brands Hatch over the weekend, including a 45-minute two-driver mini-endurance event.

Mr Hollywood is expected to race in at least one of the 25-minute solo driver sprints taking place on Sunday.

The event is headlined by two one-hour Blancpain GT races featuring cars from Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz and Nissan.

There will also be a display of over 100 supercars and a free pitwalk and autograph session on Sunday morning.
