A swarm of protesters gathered to campaign against cuts to Lewisham Southwark College this week.
More than 100 students, staff and community supporters were among the people who protested for the Camberwell campus to remain open and 112 proposed job cuts to be abandoned.
Two weeks ago the college management announced proposals to close down the Camberwell campus. If closed, students in the area say they will be deprived of their only chance of getting an education.
Camberwell student Timothy Lubowa, 50, who attended the protest, said: "Since I started this course I have improved a lot in speaking English and writing.
"We have good teachers who have done a wonderful job to see that we, as students, achieve our goals.
"Today we raise our voice not to close this Camberwell site. Our voice must be heard."
Government cuts have been blamed for the proposed closure of the campus, however students say mismanagement and failure to listen to their views is the real reason behind it.
Ian Crosson, a member of campaign group Defend Lewisham Southwark College stated: "Our local communities desperately need the second chance opportunities that the college can provide."
In a statement, the college said: "The college remains committed to meet the needs of the communities, and alternative arrangements for courses delivered at Camberwell are being scoped as part of the consultation process.
"No final agreement has been made by the governors of the college."
