The election is looming. Here's News Shopper's rundown of the picture in Greenwich.

News Shopper: Eltham MP Clive Efford.

ELTHAM

Counting venue: Waterfront Leisure Centre, Woolwich
Count starts: As soon as possible after the polls close - Thursday May 7
Results expected: Friday May 7

HISTORY

Labour's Clive Efford holds the smallest majority in south east London and north Kent, winning by just 1,663 votes last time around. He was first elected to the seat in 1997 when he secured a much larger majority of more than 10,000 votes. But in fact the seat was Tory from 1975 when Peter Bottomley won a by-election there.

DID YOU KNOW?

In Eltham's local elections last year the Tories lost seats to Labour on the council, partly due to the arrival on the scene of UKIP. The Kippers' high-profile former Tory Peter Whittle might also take a sizeable bite out of his old party's vote.

OUTLOOK

Though Clive's last majority may make his position look precarious, if Mr Whittle's party make headway at the expense of the Tories, it may help him secure a larger win this time around.

MP

Name: Clive Efford
Status: Running again
Magic moment: A mixed year for Clive. He took on Berkeley Homes this year, accusing them of "naked greed" over plans for a massive Kidbrooke towerblock. But he was also accused of verbally abusing one of his election staff after drinking five pints.

News Shopper: Teresa Pearce is not happy about Bexley Council's decision.

ERITH & THAMESMEAD

Counting venue: Crook Log Leisure Centre, Bexleyheath
Count starts: As soon as possible after the polls close - Thursday May 7
Results expected: Friday May 7

HISTORY

Erith & Thamesmead has been a Labour seat since it was first created back in 1997. Back in 2010, Labour bagged 19,068 votes compared to the Tories' 13,365, giving them a majority of  5,703 votes.

DID YOU KNOW?

Current MP Teresa Pearce, a former Bexley councillor, stood for the first time in 2010. She took over as Labour's candidate from John Austin who had held the seat since 1997.

OUTLOOK

The seat is expected to stay in Labour's hands this time around. It would take an almighty shift in the polls to put Ms Pearce in danger.

MP

Name: Teresa Pearce

News Shopper: MP Nick Raynsford will tie the knot with fellow MP this Autumn
GREENWICH & WOOLWICH

Counting venue: Waterfront Leisure Centre, Woolwich
Count starts: As soon as possible after the polls close - Thursday May 7
Results expected: Friday May 7

HISTORY

Greenwich & Woolwich is considered a very safe Labour seat, having been held since 1992 when outgoing MP Nick Raynsford was first elected as parliamentary representative for Greenwich.

DID YOU KNOW?

Mr Raynsford is standing down as MP, with former councillor Matthew Pennycook taking his place for Labour. Mr Pennycook has vowed not to take a second job or directorships if he is elected - something his predecessor has been much criticised for.

OUTLOOK

The seat is considered safe as houses for Labour and the outcome is set to be exactly the same this time around. Mr Pennycook would have more competition for a seat on the cable car than this one.

MP

Name: Nick Raynsford
