A Penge couple who have a disabled blue badge on their car were shocked after their tyres were slashed and expletives left on their car.

Debra and Mark Webb, both 52, live at Westbourne Road, near Penge, and were due to have their Peugeot sent for a MOT.

They cleared out the car, including removing the disabled badge, and parked it next to the disabled parking bay outside their house on Monday (April 15).

But when they awoke on Tuesday they discovered all four tyres had been slashed and a note left on their car saying “park in your space you c***”.

Mrs Webb, who has been married for 18 years, is a full time carer for her husband who has spinal problems.

She said: “A neighbour knocked on our door and said ‘you should look at this’.”

“Personally I was angry. It’s the fact that someone’s so petty minded.

“I didn’t park in the disabled space because I took the badge out for the MOT, but it was still outside our house just one space along.

The note left on the car

“If they had just knocked on my door I would have put the badge back in and moved it.

“It’s better than vandalising the car; it’s so wrong, they even tried to disguise their writing, it’s pathetic.”

One tyre had been stabbed four times, in total racking up £600 worth of damage.

Mrs Webb added: “I’ve spoken to one or two neighbours who are absolutely disgusted.

“I hope whoever did it doesn’t end up in this situation as it’s a form of victimisation.

“My husband didn’t choose to be this way it’s the cards life have dealt him.

“He was angry in the morning; he went out and shouted “thank you whoever did that”.

There are no parking restrictions along the street, and anyone with a blue disabled badge can park in the space outside their house.

“I’ve got every right to park there, I’ve parked on the street in the past.

“It’s almost aimed at us for not parking in the disabled bay, that’s the bit that gets me.”
