Bromley Council has launched its public consultation into the fate of Orpington Priory – home to the borough’s museum.

Plans to put the building up for sale and move the museum exhibitions to Bromley Central Library were put on hold in February, this year.

More than 2,000 people have signed a petition against the sale of the borough’s oldest building.

The consultation is designed to consider the best way to preserve the museum, alternative uses for Orpington Priory and the benefits it has on the town centre.

A council spokesperson said: “We are consulting with resident and stakeholder groups regarding the planned exhibition space in the Central Library, the future of the Priory building and its place in Orpington town centre.

“The survey is available on our website and we will be reporting back in due course.”

Residents can complete the survey online at here.
