News Shopper has joined forces with Charlton Athletic Football Club to encourage youngsters to eat healthily and get plenty of exercise.

With more and more alarming statistics about rising obesity in the under-10s being published, News Shopper and Charlton Athletic Football Club decided it was time to help.

We set out to produce a magazine which would encourage our children to eat fruit instead of crisps and run about outside instead of switching on the television.

What we have come up with is a healthy eating and fitness for fun magazine which is now ready to read online, packed with facts about superfoods and tips on exercises for children aged between seven and 11.

It also features interviews with several players at Charlton both from the Academy and from the first team, about their views on what to eat.

They also give us some idea what its like to play for the club and how they have got to where they are.

There is also lots of information about how you can get involved with exercise at Charlton Athletic Football Club.

As well as online, the magazine is going to be made available to take away at the end of the match between Charlton and Newcastle on March 17.

On these take-home magazines there are packs of football cards to collect and swap, with lots of interesting facts on the back about food.

We are also running a competition to win £500 of sports equipment, provided by Charlton. All you have to do is match the right flag with the right player.

Which country do you think the players come from? Do you know which countries the flags belong to?

You must be between 7 and 11 to qualify for the prize and your school must be within the distribution area of the News Shopper.

The winning entry will win a voucher made out to your school.
