MANY people remember granny tatting with cotton and shuttle but don't think about having a go themselves.

But tatting is alive and well in Green Street Green.

Invicta Ring of Tatters celebrated 10 years of tatting on February 15.

There was a celebratory lunch at the Rose and Crown, complete with a beautiful birthday cake made by Doris Keane.

As part of the birthday celebrations, there will be an open day from 10am to 3.30pm on March 31 at Upper Baptist Church Hall, Tower Road, Orpington.

There will be a talk by Anita Jones called Waste Not Want Not.

Visitors should bring a packed lunch, but tea and coffee will be available.

Tickets cost £3 and can be bought on the day.

If you would like to order tickets in advance, write to Mrs D Keane, 4 Lovibonds Avenue, Orpington, Kent BR6 8ER.

Please make cheques payable to D Keane and enclose a SAE for reply.
