RAILWAY stations across the News Shopper region have secured shares of funding towards improved facilities and disabled access.
The money, which is provided by the Department for Transport's Access for All Small Schemes, will be spend on access ramps, lifts, disabled toilets and low-level ticket counters.
- Blackheath Station will receive £13,500
- Lewisham Station will receive £13,500
- Mottingham Station will receive £990
- Grove Park Station will receive £14,490
- New Cross Station will receive £13,830
- Gravesend Station will receive £27,000
The funding is part of a Government strategy to improve accessibility to the country's railways and is specifically targetted at providing infrastructure improvements for disabled people.
Applicants submitted their plans in November last year and successful bids were awarded earlier this year.
The maximum amount of funding available available is £250k for each scheme, up to a maximum of 50 per cent of the total costs.
